Moved to England in 1691, after he refused to meet reform requirements and swear allegiance to William and Mary to protect his post at Edinburgh. Resided in or near Swallow Street.

• Degree: B.A.?, 1664, St. Salvator's College, St. Andrews. Mackenzie says M.A., but can't be right. He was persuaded by Lt. Colonel Alexander Munro to serve on active duty in France for 2 1/2 years in 1665

• Degree: M.A., 1669, St. Marys College, St. Andrews.

• Degree: D.D., Feb 1682, St. Marys College, St. Andrews.

Alexander married Marion Collace, daughter of Rev. Andrew Collace M.A. and Unknown, on 11 Apr 1676 in Inverkeithing. (Marion Collace died in 1715 in London, England.)
