Alexander Monro
Noted events in his life were: • Education. 2 Harrow and Oxford • Marriage, 1821. Eloped to Gretna Green with Catherine, who was the daughter of a neigbour. His father, D. Thomas, was so incensed, that he cut Alexander off. Alexander's elder brother, Dr. Edward Thomas interceeded. (His original letter was given to Alec Monro by Ken Monro and is in Monro Archives) • Residence, 1822, Bushey, Hertford. Son Alexander Donald was born in Bushey. • Residence, 1824-1833, Bushey, Hertford, England. Returned to family home on death of Harriet. Stayed there until death of his father in 1833. Alexander next married Lucy Agnew, daughter of Captain Agnew and Unknown, on 21 Oct 1829 in Aldenham, Hertford. (Lucy Agnew died on 16 Jan 1865 in 58 Brompton Square, Brompton, Middlesex and was buried in St. James The Apostle Cemetery, Bushey, Herts.)
